Eternal Palace Sakura Area 1 Boss: Beastfang Maru

What we know about the Sakura Pavilion Floor 5 boss: Beastfang Maru (牙獣丸), fight reports, HP bar examples, and unverified drops.

Last verified: Nov 6, 2026 5 min read

The Floor 5 boss at the end of Area 1: Sakura Pavilion (桜の楼閣) is the first major boss many players meet after climbing five floors of branching rooms. As of 2026-11-06, public sources still leave gaps, so this page separates on-screen facts, media reports, and gaps we have not closed.

Where does the Area 1 boss fight happen?

Map UI in official footage places the run in Area 1 on Floor 5 inside the Sakura Pavilion theme. That matches walkthrough reporting that the first dungeon spans five floors before a boss gate. The boss stat card above lists the same location string; we do not have a separate in-menu codex name beyond the HUD boss bar.

For how floors and room picks work before you reach this fight, see the beginner guide. Depth scaling that can make later rooms—and potentially this boss—tougher is covered under Mugen Depth.

What is the boss called in English and Japanese?

On official English combat footage, the boss health bar label reads Beastfang Maru. On official Japanese trailer footage, the bar label reads 牙獣丸. A Game*Spark preview article names 牙獣丸 as the boss of Sakura Pavilion and describes the encounter in Japanese coverage.

No single source we found prints Beastfang Maru and 牙獣丸 together as an official bilingual pair. Because both labels appear on first-party HUD footage for the same Area 1 Floor 5 role, and because Game*Spark ties 牙獣丸 to this pavilion, we refer to the boss as Beastfang Maru (牙獣丸) and call that a strong inference, not a confirmed glossary entry.

One English review’s body text calls the first-area boss a fast “ninja commander”, while an image caption on the same page names Beastfang Maru. We do not know whether the prose nickname, the caption, and the Japanese reporting all describe one character or a conflation of early bosses; treat the ninja-commander wording as single-source prose, unconfirmed, until more English UI or patch notes align it.

What do sources report about the fight?

Game*Spark’s preview states that adds appear before the boss, that the enemy has large wings, and that attacks include fire breath and wide sweeping strikes. The author lost the first attempt and won on a second after strengthening their setup (media report). Their build details are anecdotal, but the add phase and attack shapes are useful context.

We are not listing named phases, telegraphed skill titles, elemental weaknesses, or a verified HP total. The stat card at the top therefore says Not verified for everything except location. HP appears only as a single-frame example from official video (about 15,559 / 26,652 mid-fight in one English clip).

After the fight, one English review says the first-area boss can reward SS-rank Attributes. We have not verified drop tables, guaranteed ranks, or whether every clear produces loot. Mention it only as a single reviewer claim until spoils screens or achievements confirm it.

What might help, based on verified combat rules only?

The bullets below are mechanism-based suggestions, not a tested Beastfang Maru strategy. We did not independently play this boss for this page.

Sources agree that Perfect Dodge and Perfect Block restore AP, which feeds your four equipped Arts (combat basics). If the boss and adds pressure you during long animations, timing those defenses may matter more than raw button mashing—this is inference from system rules, not boss-specific lab work.

GameWith’s walkthrough notes that once shield durability breaks in a run, it does not recover. A fight with adds plus wide sweeps and breath attacks is a plausible place to burn block value early; again, that is logic from shield rules, not confirmed footage of this encounter.

Mugen Depth raises enemy scaling as you take map actions and rewards (Mugen Depth guide). Reaching Floor 5 after heavy depth gain may inflate enemy HP and damage compared with a low-depth route. Whether that applies equally to this boss’s bar values is not verified; depth is a general run modifier, not a published boss modifier table.

If you are still assembling Arts for the climb, the Arts list tracks names we can source today—not a full roster—and combat basics explains AP, Tension, and Over Arts without pretending we solved this boss.

FAQ

What is the Area 1 boss called?
Official English UI on the boss bar reads Beastfang Maru; official Japanese UI reads 牙獣丸. Game*Spark identifies 牙獣丸 as the Sakura Pavilion boss. No single source places both strings side by side, so we treat them as the same boss by strong inference, not as a confirmed bilingual name pair.
What is its weakness?
Not verified yet. No official element or damage-type weakness has been published for this fight.
How much HP does it have?
Not verified as a fixed value. In one official English combat clip, the boss bar briefly shows about 15,559 remaining out of 26,652—that frame is an example from one run, not proof of a constant HP pool.
What does it drop?
One English review states the first-area boss can drop SS-rank Attributes after victory. That reward line comes from a single reviewer and is not confirmed by official loot tables.
